- ELU AGOGO – Florocka (aka Yoruba Jingle Bells)
Florocka!!! This is the favourite of my favourite Nigerian Christmas songs! I love it so much, I listen to it all year round.
I have a lot to say about the song – from the beat and Florocka’s voice dexterity, the energy on this song to the spin on it… oh my, simply awesome! I honestly feel nothing I say can do enough justice to how amazing this Christmas song is. Why don’t you take a listen and tell me what you think?
2. OH HOLY NIGHT – Ruby Gyang
I think I first heard this Ruby Gyang’s rendition about two years ago on the radio and my first thought was, “Ruby can’t do no wrong with her voice.”
This song is RUBY. Please listen and let me know what you think about it.
3. Merry Christmas, Darling – Timi Dakolo ft. Emeli Sandé
If I were to describe this song with just one word, that would be SMOOTH. The richness of both Timi and Emeli’s voices, the instrumentation, the backup; absolutely smooth. I recommend you listen to the song with a headset. You can thank me later.
However, I can’t say much about the music video. I don’t like the video at all. I feel it needs more creative elements. It just feels… I don’t know how to describe it. Bland, maybe. The only thing I like about it is the cat. And I’m not even a cat-lover.
But hey, it’s a beautiful song and obviously, it is one of my faves.
Listen, Watch and let me know what your thoughts are.
4. Odun Keresimesi -Chief Commander Ebenezer Obey
This song! This man! Absolute favourite!
I’m sorry but I love love love Ebenezer Obey! I tell people that if this legend is not at my wedding, I won’t follow my husband home. Yup! I’m not even joking… LOL.
Back to the song, this is an evergreen jam and I’m proud of myself and anyone who appreciates songs like this. It is a movement y’all! Okay, I’m getting too extra but please listen below.
5. ODUN NLO SOPIN – CAC Women Choir
This is not exactly a Christmas song. It is more of an ‘Mber months/end-of-the-year theme song. Whenever I hear it, I know is year is already coming to an end and Christmas countdown can begin.
Now, this is the definition of evergreen!
These are my 5 favourite Nigerian Christmas songs. Do you like any of them?
I’d like to know which Nigerian Christmas songs are your favourite, I need to update my list.
Merry Christmas in advance, lovers!
