I DON’T FEEL THE VIBES IN VIBES & INSHA ALLAH

After a stretch of silence, Reminisce released his EP, ‘Vibes & Insha Allah’; with a total of six tracks, the project left me with mixed feelings.

Vibes & Insha Allah EP - Reminisce Alaga

The first song on the EP, ‘Vibes’, on which he featured his daughters, was a decent delivery. The track was basically about his song hustle and all that shit. Cool stuff.

The next track, ‘Gbedu’, produced by Krizbeat, didn’t meet up with the promise of the first track. But it’s still not a castaway.

The fall from grace began from ‘Jogodo’— an anthem of a wasted man. The song just dey there.

In ‘Ogaranya’ he featured Fireboy. It’s probably the best track on the EP, but it pales in comparison to Reminisce’s best works. Seeing that it’s the most pushed song on the EP, I’m afraid to admit that this EP is well, underachieving.

I don’t know what he aimed to achieve with ‘Eja Osan’ featuring Tiwa Savage. Whatever it is though, he didn’t achieve it. The song would have ‘fly’ without Tiwa’s part. Her effort was just underwhelming.

‘Over 2.5’ produced by TMXO who also produced ‘Vibes’, is about sports bet and football craze. I was left wondering what the heck it’s doing on this EP. It’s the kind of song I don’t want to listen to a second time.

‘Vibes & InshAllah’ is a decent EP, but for a rapper of Reminisce’s calibre, it’s a total let down. Let me be frank, if I were to rate it on a scale of 10, I would give it 5, and that’s me being prodigal. Alaga should go back to the drawing board, this EP is void of the vibe and lyrical dexterity he’s been known for over the years.

  1. No lies, I didn’t exactly vibe with his EP. I want him to give me his ‘Ponmile’ or something better.

All said, I’m still a big FAN of Reminisce.

  2. I was expecting him to give us a verisimilitude, if not facsimile, of what he did with Baba Hafusa and Alagi Ibile. I am a great fan of Reminisce, but I was a bit disappointed with the EP. He is more than that doggerel which to me seems like an artist scrambling for commercial relevance.
